A guide to modern ammonia refrigeration piping – this book is a comprehensive introduction to refrigeration piping as it is practiced in the field. Originally printed in 2000, this publication has gone through several updates throughout the years. The 2019 update was a cover-to-cover review and edit that included a significant change in Chapter 1 “Pipe Sizing” . The 2026 version includes a revision of Chapter 1 of the 2019 and 2025 versions, and an updated Guideline to the Identification of Piping and Equipment. Chapter 1 provides an engineering basis for determining pressure drop in single-phase and two phase-flow regimes as well as determining pressure drop in wet suction vertical risers - based on current research and analysis via full-scale testing. In addition, nomographs are provided to aid the user with determining pressure drop in various flow regimes. Parameters for determining pressure drop in stainless steel pipe are included. The user is referred to several computer programs that can be used to determine pressure drop and assist in selecting pipe sizes based on varying operating and economic conditions. When digital books are purchased, access to download the programs is provided on the IIAR/Gilmore Global evantage website(look for the paper clip icon). When hardcopy books are purchased, a USB drive with the programs loaded onto it will be sent with the hardcopy books.
